The Art Margaux story begins in Poland, my place of birth. Upon leaving Europe at the age of 5, I spent 8 years of my childhood roaming the tropical jungles and beaches of Puerto Rico.
I strongly believe that these early years abroad have been the greatest influence on my life and my creative output. My travels abroad since have also been instrumental to my growth as an artist, opening my eyes to color and light, to beauty, antiquity and modernity, all of which hold a place in every work of art I create.

To have inspiration and unique ideas is only one piece of the puzzle. The rest lies in harnessing these vivid creative dreams.

My education in art begins in 1999 with a summer painting program at Parsons: The New School, in New York, followed, in 2000, by a plein air painting retreat with the Warsaw School of Fine Art in Warsaw, Poland. Also during that summer,  I lent a hand to the Polish Pavilion at theWorld Fair/Expo 2000, held in Hanover, Germany.
In the Fall of the same year I began my studies at Ringling School of Art & Design, in Sarasota, FL, where I received my BFA in painting in 2004.

In the Summer of 2003, I studied abroad at the Pont Aven School of Contemporary Art in Pont Aven, France. What a fabulous cultural and creative experience that was; learning not only about the innovative art of Paul Gauguin, but also about the splendid culinary arts of the Brittany Coast of France. Later, in 2006, I began a Master's Program at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA, with emphasis in Art, Criticism & Theory. All in all, I spent 2 years in the Los Angeles/San Diego areas, immersed in a life centered around the arts in California. Incidentally, I have been a member of the San Diego Visual Arts Network (SDVAN) since 2006. Fast forwarding more to the present, my most recent education involved completing an Art Appraisal/Valuation Program at Pratt Manhattan, in 2009.

To tie it all together, below is my artist statement.

In nature we discover specimens of both the beautiful and of the grotesque.
We are both fascinated and disturbed, seeing ourselves in these objects; our wants and desires, our achievements and short comings.
What is breathtaking and rewarding inevitably becomes bittersweet, even brutal at times.
We are forever seeking, forever dreaming of what could have been and what will be.
This is the reality of our ever changing lives, for we are never satisfied and unable to rest.
This is the essence of my body of work.
It is a creative documentation of my search, beginning from dark and deep within and expanding outward into the ever pulsating world around me.

My offerings include (but are not restricted to):

Traditional/Abstract Portrait, Landscape commissions
Original paintings (Floral, food, landscape series')
Nature inspired, semi-precious stone, precious metal and recycled glass jewelry (custom requests accepted, encouraged even !)
